What is the Celebration " Los Locos de La Vela de Coro"?

It is a folkloric manifestation of deep cultural roots
that takes place every year in the the town of La Vela. In 1997
this cultural group travelled to Belgium
where they obtained an astonishing success.

During the first days of August of 1997  a folkloric manifestation from Falcon State, Los Locos de la Vela, took part in the festival "Carnival of the World" in Stavelot, Belgium,
The participation of "Los Locos de la Vela" in the festival "Carnival of the World", caused great impact in the public that attended; so much impact that the press pointed out the event throughly and stood out its musical rhythm as well as the coloring of the heavy traditional suits, which correspond to a cultural habit, from La Vela, where this group and the all town, celebrates every year, on December 28, the day of the Saint Innocents.
It is important to highlight that the presentation of the referred group was possible thanks to the collaboration between the Venezuelan Embassy in Brussels, the Belgian Embassy in Caracas, the Falcon State Government and the Company Prism, with headquarters in Liejas.
This Group, although not very well-known in the rest of the regions of Venezuela, called mightly the attention of two Belgian ambassadors , who alerted the organizer of the Fair "Carnivals of the World" which carries out in Belgium every year.
Therefore, Los Locos de la Vela made known, in those distant lands, their delirious dancing traditional gifts.
