Coro rescata el Arco de la Federación

On July 26th 1997, during the celebration of the 470 years of the foundation of Coro City, was inaugurated the Arch of the Federation, an exact reconstruction of the original monument which was knocked down 44 years ago during the beginning of the period Pérez Jimenista, in 1953.

The reconstruction of this Arch obeys to the decisive efforts of Mr. Giuseppe Paolini, who in 1980, with the support of Monsignor Iturriza and the Governor of that time, formed the committee "Pro-reconstruction of the Arch of The Federation".

In 1990, Mrs. Esperanza Contreras de Paolini, continued the brilliant work of her husband reactivating the commitee and this time joining it also the "Universidad Francisco de Miranda" and the " Instituto Universitario Tecnológico Alonso Gamero".

The Arch of the Federation was originally built as a commemorative tribute to the centennial of the Birth of the General Juan Crisóstomo Falcón (1820-1870) one of the most important leaders in the War of The Federation and President of the Republic of Venezuela.

This Monument is the result of the hard work by the Falconianos for keeping vivid their History, rescuing those architectonic treasures, that for erroneous conception of modernism and development were destroyed in past times.
