IGLESIA DE EL CARRIZAL

Carrizal Church, El Carrizal, Falcón State, Venezuela

This reliquary sanctuary was built in the same place where our ancestors actually developed the first doctrinaire Temple in 1723 in honor of Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. If you happen to be near La Vela go and visit Carrizal is just about 4 km. away. Carrizal is located between La Vela and Cumarebo Port.

The Mass hours at the Church of Carrizal are :Monday at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
, but usually the Church is open daytime so you can see the interior and the beautiful picture of Guadalupe at the altar. It is said that the picture was found in the beaches near by where today is known by the name of "Fondeadero of Muaco" and it came from a sunken ship in 1723. The local natives or Indians of the region took it and it is said that the image made a great impact on them, since it was the first Virgin that they saw with Indian features.

On December 12th, people from all the nearby towns and cities congregate in this place to venerate the Virgin of Guadalupe, bringing with them small figurines to thank the Virgin for all favors granted.
