La Casa de las Ventanas de Hierro
(The House of the Iron Windows), Zamora Street
The House of the Iron Windows was built by Don José
Francisco Garcés de la Colina in 1765. The name of the
house obey to the big brown wrought-iron grilles imported
from Santo Domingo, (island which Coro kept close
relations), at a time when the locals used only wood.
This caused quite a sensation. Later, iron grilles became
typical all over the country.
