Welcome
to Santa
Ana de Coro
Falcón State,
Venezuela
World Heritage City

Located towards the northwest
of Venezuela, Coro was one of the first settlements in the American Continent and
the First Capital of the New created Province of Venezuela.
On July 26th, 1527, Juan de Ampíes founded this beautiful
city, when Coro was still under
the domains of the "caquetíos".
It's in Coro where began to seed a
personality that we called Venezuelan, a cultural stage where Spain
started to become Venezuela. Being the Capital of Venezuela,
Coro was a model for the
old cities: Tocuyo, Barquisimeto, Valencia, Caracas,
Maracaibo.
Headquarters of the First Archbishopric created in South America,
was here also where began the Christianization of the
Country.
Coro is historic also because here has been preserved some of the most important
fossils and archaeological sites of South America.
Its cultural and religious
legacy, make the City of Coro a meaningful
treasure of great importance.

Besides these facts, Coro is the most important
Venezuelan city from a historical point of view.
Walking around its old stone streets, we can still see a
colonial time that won't die.
Their long and meritorious past has left a group of constructions of bahareque,
adobe walls from the XVI century
that distinguish Coro as the city of mud which importance
rises in the world.
Coro, capital of the Falcon State, is also cradle of one of the
most exotic landscapes in the whole venezuelan geography:
The Dunes of Coro that haven't stopped running and flooding the sand like a live and incessant
river.
