Fiestas Corianas


January 2nd. Shopkeepers Day. "Comerciantes" celebrates their day with music, parties and competitions in the streets.
February 20th. Federation Day.
Public offices are closed during this day.

July 26th. Day of Santa Ana de Coro. In the last Week Coro celebrate its "Fiestas Patronales"
November. Annual Falcón Exhibition and Fair at the Feria Industrial . Regional Event. This four o five days affair which usually takes place in the end of November, shows the regional achievements in a variety of areas like: agriculture, economic, cultural, handcrafts and tourism. There are also performances by regional groups and singers.

November. "FERIA DEL PESEBRE". Religious and Cultural Event where competitions are organized in order to reward the better "nativity scene". Food, arts and handiworks are sold. Several groups of theaters, Choirs and groups of carols takes the stage. This interesting event takes place in the marvelous stage of the Colonial Zone. This traditional event also remind the importance of religious values in our culture.

Each year, On December 28th, "LOS LOCOS DE LA VELA" take the streets of La Vela with its colorful customs. This agrupation recently had a tour presentation in Belgium with great success. LA VELA a World Heritage Site, is located a 12km of Coro City, and it was here where was first placed our National Flag.

Traditions and Folklore

"Polo Coriano:, Coriano Drums, the "Chimbique". The reflective Coriano Drums are the context of the "folklore coriano", gathering the music and the dance as genuine expression joined to the dances of living room inherited of the colony. Great oral and chronic traditions around the city and their popular characters.

Cuisine and Typical Drinks

Cuisine: Local dishes are very tasty and varied. Between the specialties the "talkarí , "chivo" in coconut (chivo en coco), "carite" in pickle (carite en escabeche), celse, peeled round maize loaf, "debudeque", "mancarrón,", and the preserve of milk of goat conserva de leche de cabra.

Typical drinks are: lemon with panela, "chicha" and white cocuy (cocuy blanco).
