La Vela
is
located to 12 km. from the City of Coro. It was founded
on January 23 1528, and it was the place where our
National Flag was hoisted for the first time. La Vela was
declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993.

Francisco de Miranda Square
Miranda Street. La Vela. C.P. 4132
It was in La Vela where Francisco of Miranda disembarked
on August 3 1806 and hoisted for the first time in
Venezuelan land, the Venezuelan flag that he had designed
during his trip to Philadelphia.

The Marine Museum is located in the building where the
Customs used to be. The Building with architecture of
Dutch influence.
Antillean Square
In this square there you will find a Dutchwoman statue
which commemorates the strong relationship that have
always existed between La Vela and the Netherland
Antilles.
