San Gabriel was located
before in the outskirts of the city, same as the temple of San
Nicolás. The temple was already stablished in the year of 1773.
There is a badge at the upper sit, in the main entrance of the temple,
which said
that the construction started by the Marshal Juan Crisóstomo Falcon in 1867 and
was finished it by the General Guillermo Aranguren, Provisional President of the State in
the year 1901.
The Prebistero Jesus Hernández Chapellin says that the temple was
given for the Catholic cult during the administration of the General
Jurado León and during the bishopric of Monsignor Lucas Guillermo
Castillo."
The tower was annexed time later to the construction, for the General Antonio Fernández, when
he was a President of the State, in 1896.
It is said that San Gabriel preserve a clock of the Marshal "Juan Crisóstomo
Falcón".
